Description
Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart
Serenade in B flat “Gran Partita”, K 361
Version for clarinet quintet (2 clarinets, 2 basset horns, and bass clarinet)
arranged by Michael Nowotny
Included alternative parts: Clarinet III instead of Basset Horn I, Bassoon instead of Bass Clarinet
This arrangement of Mozart’s Wind Serenade in B-flat major, K. 361 (“Gran Partita”), adapts the work for a five-part clarinet ensemble with a homogeneous sound character. It follows the concept of the arrangement of the Serenade K. 388 (Trio Musik Edition HK-095) and is historically inspired by Mozart’s Adagio K. 411, scored for two clarinets and three basset horns — a then-novel formation likely composed in 1785 for a Masonic ceremony.
