Description
Engelbert Humperdinck (1854-1921)
Prelude to the fairytale opera “Hansel and Gretel”
Arr.: Joseph Kanz
Humperdinck composed “Hansel and Gretel” in the years 1889-1892. To this day, international opera audiences remain unreservedly loyal to this work. The prelude incorporates the most beautiful themes from the opera, which is why it is often performed as a work in its own right. Joseph Kanz adhered strictly to Humperdinck’s score in his transcription, which is in the original key.
