Concert march for wind orchestra, op. 34

Compulsory piece of the Lower Austrian Brass Music Association 2003/2004 in level C. This concert march is a continuation of two traditions. To the marching tradition of America with its march king John Philip Sousa and to the German revue marches as we know them from Paul Linke, for example.

The 6/8 time signature, which Sousa liked to use, gives the piece power and dynamism. The design of the trio is also reminiscent of Sousa. A tenor melody which is gradually played around by the wood register.

The harmonies of the concert march and the sequencing of the individual parts are particularly reminiscent of the revue marches. The mixture of the two stylistic components results in a sparkling, captivating concert march.
