Composed in 1899 by the illustrious composer, conductor, and organist André Messager, this work was initially crafted as an examination piece for the clarinet studio of the Paris Conservatoire. Despite its original purpose as an examination piece, its composition captures the essence of the Parisian musical landscape of that era.
This edition, meticulously based on the 1899 first edition authorized by Messager himself, corrects historical engraving errors while preserving the original dynamics, articulation, and notation. It offers performers a glimpse into the composer’s authentic intentions.
