Intermezzo for 4 solo clarinets and wind orchestra
This lively intermezzo offers four protagonists of the clarinet register the opportunity to emerge as soloists. This little bravura piece is in the style of modern concertante light music. The orchestra also intervenes in the polyphonic playing, but mostly remains in the background as an accompaniment. The use of other (tutti) clarinets apart from an E flat clarinet and the use of saxophones, trumpets and trombones is dispensed with. Performable in all parts by advanced amateurs, the piece is also a rewarding task for professional performers and is well suited to liven up a concert program.
