Concert march for wind orchestra

The Association of Friends of Grünwald celebrated the 25th anniversary of its wind orchestra on November 7, 1999. Film composer Rolf Wilhelm, who has lived in Grünwald himself for 40 years, was delighted to contribute a cheerful march to this occasion, which was given the pretty old Bavarian name “Schariwari”. The motif of the ‘old knights’ – a tribute to the Isar community of Grünwald – is clearly recognizable in the main theme. Later, it is elegantly combined with Munich’s “Der alte Peter”. “The most sonorous and sophisticated of all Bavarian anthems” (Münchner Merkur).
