Four facets for clarinet quartet

for Eb clarinet, 2 Bb clarinets and bass clarinet (3rd part also basset horn)

“This composition is dedicated to Bernd Ballreich, whom I got to know as a clarinettist in the Mannheim Youth Symphony Orchestra, which I conducted, and who went on to have a great career as a teacher, soloist and chamber musician. These are four pieces of very different character, but what they have in common is that the four voices have equal rights. The cheerful mood prevails, the last movement ends surprisingly with a small happening. The piece has already been successfully performed several times at the ‘Jugend musiziert’ competition” (Hanno Haag).
