Aqua & Miamoja – The wells are empty
A musical – not just for children
“Aqua & Miamoja – Die Brunnen sind leer” is an enchanting musical conceived primarily for children (choir), the basic idea of which was to musically address the environmental problem of the future water supply on our planet. Together with the text author Hans-Jürgen Netz, the composer and experienced choir director Heinz-Peter Riedel succeeded in translating a seemingly unpoetic theme into words and music, thus touching children and adults, singers, actors and spectators alike ecologically and emotionally.
In 2009, this work was therefore also recognized by the German UNESCO Commission as an official project of the UN Decade 2009/2010.
The content:
In “Meindorf” there is no more water after gold diggers have extracted the water for use – a catastrophe! After all, how are the inhabitants of “Meindorf” supposed to survive if the wells, which were previously full, are empty? Two children, Aqua and Miamoja, agree to get the precious water elsewhere. This takes them to various villages, but there are also problems with the water in Knappdorf, Kriegsdorf, Stinkdorf and Quatschdorf. The children only find satisfactory conditions in Traumdorf. The children return home with many new insights and discover fresh, clear spring water for their home village.
