Song for the Wind
“Song for the Wind” is a work commissioned by the BDB on the occasion of its 50th anniversary. “wind instruments” is the English term for “wind instruments”, but of course also means “wind” and “breath”; a play on words, therefore. The piece also begins very “airily”, almost out of nowhere. It is designed for intermediate and advanced orchestras and is therefore less demanding in terms of technical difficulty. It makes use of “passable” keys; only in the middle section, which is a kind of “development”, do accidentals increase.
