Description
Franz Schubert (1797-1828)
German Mass in F, D 872
Fassung für Chor und Blasorchester / version for choir and concert band
Arr.: Michael Kummer
Partitur und Stimmen / score and parts
This new edition of the German Mass follows the sound structure of the original completely. The distorted harmonies that often occur in earlier editions have been corrected and the original postludes reinstalled. Schubert’s four-part choral writing is transcribed without alteration into the parts flugelhorn I / II, baritone and euphonium. The remaining instrumentation is strongly based on Schubert’s transparent movement style; the usual tutti instrumentation was avoided. The original keys were generally retained in the version for choir. Choir scores are available separately, minimum order 8 copies.
